Our History

Kickstand Bike Shop

Kickstand Bike Shop was started by Tom Simon in the fall of 1997 – original location was at the corner of Major and Phelan in the Market Basket Shopping Center. We were taken out by Ike and relocated to our new and improved store in the Colonnade Shopping Center.

Tom started racing BMX in the late 70’s and was sponsored by Cook’s Brothers. Back then his parents owned 2 shops and tracks: one in Deer Park and the other in Beaumont. Tom and his twin brother Tim did the repairs at the Beaumont shop called Kickstand Holeshot. The track eventually closed but Tom continued racing on and off through his 30’s when he realized he should open his own shop!

A lot has happened since then. Tom is well known for his mechanical skills as well as being the only Trek Dealer from Houston to Louisiana with the look and feel of a Concept Store. In 2008 Tom joined forces with Joe Haeggquist and did a ride across the country to raise money for LiveStrong. The group raised and donated $40K and rode in honor of cancer stricken friends and family.  For Tom especially it was his brother David Boone and his dear friend Carol Johnson.

These days you can get  friendly and knowledgeable service from Tom, Don, Bhavani, and free entertainment from the kids: Marishka, Ryne, Ethan and Levi.
